Tourism is a key driver for the region’s economy. The region’s attractions include coastal resorts, attractive towns and villages, lively and historic cities, stately homes and gardens, places of worship, wildlife, countryside and amusement parks and retail destinations.
The region plays host to a truly vibrant array of cultural events, including exhibitions, festivals of music and the arts, concerts of all kinds and many more. They offer opportunities for local people as well as for national and international visitors.
To boost cultural tourism in the region, we advocate:
- developing the product
- prioritising investment in the development of the region’s natural and cultural assets
- developing the skills of people in the cultural tourism industry
- enhancing the marketing and promotion of the cultural offer
- creating innovative propositions for promoting the region’s cultural assets to visitors
